Suaeda
Suaeda ist eine Gattung von Pflanzen, die auch als Säugetiere und Seabile bekannt sind. Die meisten Arten sind auf salzige oder alkalische Bodenlebensräume beschränkt, wie Küstensalz-Wohnungen und Gezeiten-Feuchtgebiete. Viele Arten haben dicke, saftige Blätter, ein Merkmal, das in verschiedenen Pflanzengattungen gesehen wird, die in salzigen Lebensräumen gedeihen. Es gibt etwa 110 Arten in der Suaeda-Gattung. Die häufigste Art in Nordwesteuropa ist Suaeda maritima. Es wächst entlang der Küsten, vor allem in den Salongebieten und ist in englischer Sprache bekannt als gemeinsamer Sitz. Es ist auch an der Ostküste Nordamerikas von Virginia nordwärts üblich. Eine seiner Sorten ist im tropischen Asien auf dem landseitigen Rand der Mangroven-Gezeiten-Sümpfe üblich. Eine andere Vielfalt dieser polymorphen Spezies ist in den Gezeitenzonen überall in Australien üblich. An den Küsten des Mittelmeers ist eine gemeinsame Suaeda-Spezies Suaeda vera. Dies ist bekannt als "shrubby sea-blite" auf Englisch, in Unterscheidung von gemeinsamen Meer-Blite. Es wird größer und bildet einen Busch.
