Heute kann das Wort "Semit" verwendet werden, um auf jedes Mitglied einer beliebigen Anzahl von Völkern der antiken südwestlichen Asien Abstammung einschließlich der Akkadier, Phönizier, Hebräer, Araber und ihre Nachkommen zu verweisen.
