Fluss Severn
Der Fluss Severn ist der längste Fluss im Vereinigten Königreich, bei etwa 354 Kilometern und der zweitlängste in den britischen Inseln, hinter dem Fluss Shannon. Es erhebt sich auf einer Höhe von 610 Metern auf Plynlimon, Ceredigion bei Llanidloes, Powys, in den Kambrischen Bergen von Mitte Wales. Dann fließt es durch Shropshire, Worcestershire und Gloucestershire, mit den Kreisstädten Shrewsbury, Worcester und Gloucester an seinen Ufern. Mit einer durchschnittlichen Entladung von 107 m³ / s bei Apperley, Gloucestershire, ist der Severn der größte Fluss in Bezug auf den Wasserfluss in England und Wales. Der Fluss wird in der Regel als die Severn Estuary nach dem zweiten Severn Crossing zwischen Severn Beach, South Gloucestershire und Sudbrook, Monmouthshire werden. Der Fluss entleert sich dann in den Bristol-Kanal, der wiederum in die keltische See und den breiteren Atlantischen Ozean einläuft.
