Subordinationismus
Subordinationismus ist eine Lehre in der christlichen Theologie, die besagt, dass der Sohn und der Heilige Geist Gott dem Vater in der Natur und dem Sein untergeordnet sind. Der Subordinationismus war in seinen verschiedenen Formen eine frühchristliche Lehre bis Mitte des 4. Jahrhunderts, als die arische Kontroverse nach vielen Jahrzehnten der Debatten endgültig mit der Formulierung der Trinitätslehre besiedelt war. Subordinationismus hat einige Gemeinsamkeiten mit dem Arianismus, hat aber einige Unterschiede. Während Arius und seine Anhänger sicherlich auch Unterordner waren, gingen die Arier noch weiter, um zu behaupten, daß der Sohn als ein Geschöpf den Schöpfer, der einzige, der die göttliche Natur nach dem christlichen Apophatismus angenommen hat, praktisch unwissend ist. Subordinationismus gedeiht zur gleichen Zeit wie Arianismus (viertes Jahrhundert n. Chr.), Aber lange überlebte es. Seine Hauptverfechter im vierten Jahrhundert waren Eusebius von Cäsarea und Eusebius von Nicomedia, die beide einmal Arius unterstützt hatten. Athanasius kämpfte den Subordinationismus während seiner Karriere als Bischof von Alexandria und markierte ihn oft als Arianismus.
