Sonnenlicht ist ein Teil der elektromagnetischen Strahlung, die von der Sonne abgegeben wird, insbesondere Infrarot, sichtbares und ultraviolettes Licht. Die Welt-Meteorologische Organisation nutzt den Begriff "Sonnenscheindauer", um die kumulative Zeit zu bedeuten, in der ein Gebiet eine direkte Bestrahlung von der Sonne von mindestens 120 Watt pro Quadratmeter erhält. Die ultraviolette B-Komponente des Sonnenlichtes auf der Haut ist eine wirksame Quelle für Vitamin D3 aus Serum-Cholesterin.
