Georg Philipp Telemann
Georg Philipp Telemann war ein deutscher Barockkomponist und Multi-Instrumentalist. Fast völlig in der Musik unterrichtet, wurde er Komponist gegen die Wünsche seiner Familie. Nach dem Studium in Magdeburg, Zellerfeld und Hildesheim trat Telemann in die Universität Leipzig ein, um das Gesetz zu studieren, aber schließlich auf eine Karriere in der Musik. Er hielt wichtige Positionen in Leipzig, Sorau, Eisenach und Frankfurt, bevor er sich 1721 in Hamburg niederließ und dort zum musikalischen Leiter der fünf Hauptkirchen der Stadt wurde. Während Telemanns Karriere florierte, war sein persönliches Leben immer beunruhigt: seine erste Frau starb nur wenige Monate nach ihrer Heirat, und seine zweite Frau hatte außereheliche Angelegenheiten und sammelte eine große Spielschuld, bevor er Telemann verließ. Telemann war einer der produktivsten Komponisten der Geschichte und wurde von seinen Zeitgenossen als einer der führenden deutschen Komponisten der Zeit angesehen - er war sowohl mit seinem Freund Johann Sebastian Bach, der Telemann als Pate und Namensvetter seines Sohnes machte, günstig verglichen Carl Philipp Emanuel und George Frideric Handel, den Telemann auch persönlich kannte.
