Tetragonales Kristallsystem
In der Kristallographie ist das tetragonale Kristallsystem eine der 7 Gitterpunktgruppen. Tetragonale Kristallgitter resultieren aus dem Strecken eines kubischen Gitters entlang eines seiner Gittervektoren, so dass der Würfel ein rechteckiges Prisma mit quadratischer Basis und Höhe wird. Es gibt zwei tetragonale Kristallstrukturtypen. Bravais-Gitter: das einfache tetragonale und das zentrierte Tetragonal. Man könnte annehmen, dass das Strecken von Gesicht-zentrierten Kubikern zu einer flächenzentrierten tetragonalen, aber flächenzentrierten Tetragonalen führen würde, die äquivalent zu körperzentriertem tetragonalem, BCT ist. BCT gilt als fundamentaler, also ist die Standardterminologie.
