Tonsur
Tonsur ist die Praxis des Schneidens oder Rasierens einiger oder aller Haare auf der Kopfhaut, als Zeichen der religiösen Hingabe oder Demut. Der Begriff stammt aus dem lateinischen Wort tonsūra und verwies auf eine spezifische Praxis im mittelalterlichen Katholizismus, die 1972 von der päpstlichen Ordnung aufgegeben wurde. Die Tonsur ist nach wie vor eine traditionelle Praxis des Katholizismus durch spezifische religiöse Orden, die häufig in der östlich-orthodoxen Kirche für neu getaufte Mitglieder verwendet wird, wird häufig für buddhistische Anfänger und Mönche verwendet, existiert als traditionelle Praxis im Islam nach Abschluss des Hajjs und ist Praktiziert durch eine Reihe von Hindu religiösen Orden.
