Trigonales Kristallsystem
In der Kristallographie ist das trigonale Kristallsystem eines der sieben Kristallsysteme, und das rhomboedrische Gittersystem ist eines der sieben Gittersysteme. Sie sind oft miteinander verwechselt: Kristalle im rhomboedrischen Gittersystem sind immer im trigonalen Kristallsystem, aber einige Kristalle wie Quarz sind im trigonalen Kristallsystem, aber nicht im rhomboedrischen Gittersystem. Das rhomboedrische Gittersystem besteht aus dem rhomboedrischen Gitter, während das trigonale Kristallsystem aus den fünf Punktgruppen der sieben Raumgruppen mit einem rhomboedrischen Gitter besteht. Es gibt 25 Raumgruppen, deren Punktgruppen eine der fünf im trigonalen Kristallsystem sind, bestehend aus den sieben Raumgruppen, die mit dem rhomboedrischen Gittersystem verbunden sind, zusammen mit 18 der 45 Raumgruppen, die mit dem hexagonalen Gittersystem assoziiert sind. Die trigonale Punktgruppe beschreibt die Symmetrie eines Objekts, das durch Strecken eines Würfels entlang der Körperdiagonale erzeugt wird. Das daraus resultierende rhomboedrische Bravais-Gitter wird durch drei primitive Vektoren gleicher Länge erzeugt, die gleichwinklig zueinander stehen.
