Turan
Tūrān kann sich auf eine prähistorische menschliche Siedlung beziehen, mit einer gewissen Homogenität in Kultur und regionaler Behausung, einer historischen geographischen Region und einer Kultur. Es ist der persische Name für eine Region in Zentralasien, die wörtlich "das Land der Tur" bedeutet. Die ursprünglichen Turaner sind ein iranischer Stamm des Avestan-Zeitalters. Als Volk ist das "Turanier" eines der beiden iranischen Völker, die beide vom persischen Fereydun absteigen, aber mit verschiedenen Gebieten und oft im Krieg mit einander. In der Tat nach dem Konto des Shahnameh, mindestens 1.500 Jahre später nach der Avesta, wurden die nomadischen Stämme, die diese Länder bewohnten, von Tūr regiert, der der Kaiser Fereyduns älterer Sohn war. Die Assoziation mit den Türken beruht auch in erster Linie auf der geographischen Darstellung des Shahnameh, wo die Turkifizierung Zentralasiens in dieser Zeit teilweise abgeschlossen war. Tur / Turaj ist der Sohn des Kaisers Fereydun in der alten iranischen Mythologie. Im Shahnameh ist er mit den Türken identifiziert, obwohl es kulturell keine Beziehung zwischen den Turanern des Shahnameh und der Kultur der alten Türken gibt.
