Windburn
Windburn ist ein Zustand, bei dem ein Sonnenbrand, der bei kühlen oder trüben Bedingungen erhalten wird, falsch den Wirkungen des Windes und nicht der Sonne zugeschrieben wird. Der Hauptgrund dafür ist, dass bei kühlen oder trüben Bedingungen viele Menschen nicht bewusst sind, dass sie immer noch anfällig für die brennenden Effekte der UV-Strahlung der Sonne sind, so dass sie keine Vorsichtsmaßnahmen Sonnenschutzmaßnahmen ergreifen. Dies erhöht das Risiko, einen Sonnenbrand zu erhalten, den sie dann dem Wind fälschlicherweise zuordnen können. Die Tatsache, dass Windburn war wirklich misattributed Sonnenbrand, anstatt eine tatsächliche Bedingung in seinem eigenen Recht, wurde bereits 1936 von der englischen Haut Spezialist Charles Howard White von Cambridge und amerikanischen Physiker William Henry Crew der New York University gezeigt. Dennoch bleibt die akzeptierte Existenz von Windburn ein beliebtes und weit verbreitetes Missverständnis.
