Levitikus, Hebräisch: ויקרא (Wajikra), "aus den ersten Worten des Buches" Λευιτικόν Leuitikon der Septuaginta in Bezug auf die Leviten) - das dritte Buch der Schrift (vor dem Buch Exodus) und Der Name des Buches leitet sich von seinem Hauptthema ab, dh von der Beschreibung der Riten und Verhaltensweisen, die mit der Verehrung des Herrn, dem Gesetz und der Beschreibung der Opfer für die Sünden verbunden sind. Księga Kapłańska, Trzecia Księga Mojżeszowa, (hebr. ויקרא (Wajikra) – „zawołał" – od pierwszych słów księgi, gr. Λευιτικόν Leuitikon z Septuaginty, w nawiązaniu do Lewitów) – trzecia księga Pisma Św. (przed nią jest Księga Wyjścia) i Pięcioksięgu, a tym samym Starego Testamentu. Nazwa księgi pochodzi od jej głównego tematu, czyli opisu obrzędów i zachowań związanych z oddawaniem czci Jahwe, prawa oraz opisu ofiar za grzechy. Wydarzeń opisano w Księdze Kapłańskiej bardzo mało. Jednymi z najważniejszych słów Księgi Kapłańskiej są wielokrotnie powtarzane słowa Bądźcie świętymi, bo Ja jestem święty!. Z tego też powodu rozdziały 17-26 wyodrębnia się jako tzw. Kodeks Świętości.
