Thor

Thor - einer der Hauptgötter der nordischen Asse-Dynastie, das Äquivalent des süddeutschen Donars. Gott des Donners und Blitzes, der Gott der Lebenskräfte, der Gott der Landwirtschaft, als der für die Geburt verantwortliche Regenbauer, bevormundet auch das Hausfeuer und die Ehe. Sohn von Odin und Jörd, Gatte Sif. Thor galt als ein Gott, der für Menschen günstiger war als Odin - er ist ebenso gewalttätig, aber weniger geheimnisvoll. Er wurde gewöhnlich mit einem langen, roten Bart und einem Hammer in der Hand dargestellt - ein Symbol seiner Stärke. Thor war die Eiche. Er reiste mit einem von Ziegen gefahrenen Wagen. Er war nicht so schlau wie Odin und er war in die Falle gefallen, aber schließlich gewann er immer. Od jego imienia pochodzi nazwa czwartku w języku norweskim, duńskim, szwedzkim, farerskim fińskim, holenderskim, niemieckim i staroangielskim oraz współczesnym angielskim = 'dzień Thora'.
