Der Lotos oder Lotusbaum ist eine fantastische Pflanze, die in zwei Geschichten der griechischen Mythologie erscheint: Odisseia und Homero und in Metamorfoses und Fasti von Ovid, die auch im Buch Hiob [3] der Alten erwähnt werden. Testament, von Plinius dem Alten [4] und von Muhammad. [1] In der Odyssee war Lotus ein blütenförmiges Essen mit dem süßen Duft von Honig, der die Person, die ihn aß, dazu brachte, seine Mission zu vergessen. Odysseus schickte drei Männer, um die Insel zu erkunden, die Land der Lotusfresser genannt wurde, und diese Männer wollten nicht zu den Schiffen zurückkehren, wurden gewaltsam geschleift und weinten. Odysseus verließ schnell diese Insel, bevor die anderen Männer den Lotos aßen und nicht nach Hause zurückkehren wollten. Der Begriff lotófago wird daher auf jemanden angewendet, der ein sorgloses Leben und Lust führt. In Fasti berichtet Ovid von einer Vergewaltigung der Nymphe Loti, die unter der Wirkung von Alkohol schlief.

Odisseu enviou três homens para explorar a ilha, chamada terra dos comedores de lotos, e estes homens não quiseram voltar aos navios, sendo arrastados à força, chorando. Odisseu foi rapidamente embora desta ilha, antes que os outros homens comessem o lotos e não quisessem mais voltar para casa.[5] [6] O termo lotófago é por isso aplicado a alguém que leva uma vida despreocupada e de luxúria.[1] Em Fasti, Ovídio narra uma história de quase violação da ninfa Lótis, que dormia sob efeitos do álcool.
