Eine Kategorie oder Kategorie wird im Allgemeinen als ein Attribut oder ein Attribut verstanden, das im philosophischen Sinn auf ein Objekt geladen wird. Die Kategorien sind die Kategorien, die Aristotales beschreibt: Quantität, Qualität, Ort, Zeit, Zustand, Besitz, Einfluss, Passivität, Korrelation. Die Kategorie scheint also ein Konzept zu sein, das die Bedingungen bestimmt, unter denen die Philosophie etwas Sinnvolles sagen kann. Kant hat eine Kategoriedefinition parallel dazu aber mit anderem Inhalt.
