Lingua franca

Lingua franca

The Lingua franca is a Romance-based Pidgin language, which originated in the Middle Ages through the language contact between novels and speakers of non-Romanic languages, especially Arabic, and spreads as trade and traffic language until the 19th century predominantly on the south and east coasts of the Mediterranean was. Their name Lingua franca has been generalized since the 18th century to a generic term for similar mixed or pidgin languages. Today, this also means any natural or artificial language, such as English or Esperanto, which is commonly used as a secondary and traffic language between speakers of different linguistic communities. Whether, in the case of a natural language, the changes and simplifications resulting from such use have already led to pidginization is not decisive for classification as a lingua franca.
