Maggid

Maggid is the term for a Jewish wandering preacher, together with the term umore zedek "and teacher of justice", it also assigns a rabbinic judge singled out. The preacher Maggidim appeared since the 16th century until the pre-Holocaust period in areas with a large Jewish population, especially in Eastern Europe, and often had cult status in the people. On the other hand, the term continues to the present, Shalom was a squadron of Maggid. Maggid ist die Bezeichnung für einen jüdischen Wanderprediger, zusammen mit der Bezeichnung umore zedek "und Lehrer der Gerechtigkeit" bezeichnet es vereinzelt auch einen rabbinischen Richter. Die Prediger-Maggidim traten in Erscheinung seit dem 16. Jahrhundert bis in die Vor-Holocaust-Zeit in Gebieten mit großer jüdischer Bevölkerung, vor allem in Osteuropa und hatten im Volk häufig Kultstatus. Vereinzelt lebt die Bezeichnung bis in die Gegenwart fort, z. B. war Schalom Schwadron der Jeruschalmer Maggid.
