Preselection

With preselection or also carrier preselection or pre-selection in telecommunication, the pre-setting of a telephone connection to a preferred telephone company is called for the establishment of outgoing telephone calls. Formally one speaks also of the permanent presetting of a connection network operator at telephone connections of established network operators. The purpose of this presetting is the facilitated fixed exchange of service to alternative telephone providers without having to manually preselect a connection network operator code before each call number to be dialed, as in the case of the so-called call-by-call. In the preselection technique, the telephone connection operator ensures that the call from a preselection telephone line is made by a subscriber call number for the connection to be routed via the network of the preset alternative provider. In contrast to the connection change to alternative direct connection providers, the fixed connection is retained during the preselection with the established connection operator.

Mit Preselection oder auch Carrier Preselection oder Betreibervorauswahl bezeichnet man in der Telekommunikation die Voreinstellung eines Telefonanschlusses auf eine bevorzugte Telefongesellschaft für den Aufbau von abgehenden Telefongesprächen. Formal spricht man auch von der dauerhaften Voreinstellung eines Verbindungsnetzbetreibers an Telefonanschlüssen etablierter Netzbetreiber. Zweck dieser Voreinstellung ist der erleichterte feste Anbieterwechsel zu alternativen Telefonanbietern, ohne ständig wie beim sogenannten Call-by-Call vor jeder zu wählenden Teilnehmerrufnummer eine Verbindungsnetzbetreiberkennzahl manuell vorwählen zu müssen. Bei der Preselection sorgt Technik des Telefonanschlussbetreibers bei jedem vom Preselection-Telefonanschluss aus getätigten Anruf einer Teilnehmerrufnummer dafür, dass die Verbindung über das Netz des voreingestellten alternativen Anbieters geleitet wird. Im Gegensatz zum Anschlusswechsel zu alternativen Direktanschlussanbietern wird bei der Preselection der Festnetzanschluss beim etablierten Anschlussbetreiber beibehalten.
