Stadial

Stadial

A Stadial refers to a cold phase within a glacial or interglacial and is often abbreviated in the technical literature by the abbreviation GS. The glacial and interglacials, which last about 100,000 years, never appear as a continuous, uninterrupted ice advance or retreat during an ever cold or warm climatic period, but as periods with an average long-term climate of the same climate, which is however climatically and also due to their geomorphological ambiguities Colder and warmer periods.
