WHAT DOES AMPERE MEAN IN ENGLISH?

ampere

Ampere

The ampere, often shortened to amp, is the SI unit of electric current and is one of the seven SI base units. It is named after André-Marie Ampère, French mathematician and physicist, considered the father of electrodynamics. In practical terms, the ampere is a measure of the amount of electric charge passing a point in an electric circuit per unit time, with 6.241×1018 electrons per second constituting one ampere. The practical definition may lead to confusion with the definition of the coulomb and the ampere-hour, but amperes can be viewed as measuring a flow rate, the number of particles transiting per unit time, and coulombs simply as an amount, the total number of particles.

Definition of ampere in the English dictionary

The definition of ampere in the dictionary is the basic SI unit of electric current; the constant current that, when maintained in two parallel conductors of infinite length and negligible cross section placed 1 metre apart in free space, produces a force of 2 × 10–7 newton per metre between them. 1 ampere is equivalent to 1 coulomb per second. Other definition of ampere is a former unit of electric current ; the current that, when passed through a solution of silver nitrate, deposits silver at the rate of 0.001118 gram per second. 1 international ampere equals 0.999835 ampere.
