WHAT DOES DEBIT MEAN IN ENGLISH?

debit

Debits and credits

In double entry bookkeeping, debits and credits are entries made in account ledgers to record changes in value resulting from business transactions. Generally speaking, the source account for the transaction is credited and the destination account is debited. Total debits must equal total credits for each transaction; individual transactions may require multiple debit and credit entries to record. The difference between the total debits and total credits in a single account is the account's balance. If debits exceed credits, the account has a debit balance; if credits exceed debits, the account has a credit balance. For the company as a whole, the totals of debit balances and credit balances must be equal as shown in the trial balance report, otherwise an error has occurred. Accountants use the trial balance to prepare financial statements which communicate information about the company's financial activities in a generally accepted standardized format.

2
T. Harv Eker
If you don't have the money management skills yet, using a debit card will ensure you don't overspend and rack up debt on a credit card.
3
Mindy Kaling
I'm not married, I frequently use my debit card to buy things that cost less than three dollars, and my bedroom is so untidy it looks like vandals ransacked the Anthropologie sale section. I'm kind of a mess.
4
Charles Lyell
Never call an accountant a credit to his profession; a good accountant is a debit to his profession.
5
Loretta Lynch
You would notice if your own personal debit card limit shot up to $40 million dollars. And you'd probably call somebody.
6
Sean Pertwee
I try to use my debit card rather than a credit card, but I will use a credit card for big purchases because I bank with Coutts and I get points.
7
Mark Skousen
Fraud is common when you give away billions. Fraud related to Hurricane Katrina spending is estimated to top $2 billion. In addition, debit cards provided to hurricane victims were used to pay for Caribbean vacations, NFL tickets, Dom Perignon champagne, 'Girls Gone Wild' videos, and at least one sex change operation.
8
Huston Smith
The New Age movement looks like a mixed bag. I see much in it that seems good: It's optimistic; it's enthusiastic; it has the capacity for belief. On the debit side, I think one needs to distinguish between belief and credulity.
9
Peter Welch
Last year, Congress passed a law that directs the Federal Reserve to set limits on debit card swipe fees that are reasonable and proportional to the cost of processing those transactions. Like most Americans, I had no idea that swipe fees charged to American businesses are the highest in the world.
10
Peter Welch
Swipe fees have increased steadily since the introduction of debit cards 20 years ago, when there were no swipe fees at all. Merchants can't negotiate or control them. They've tried, but they have no leverage against the big banks and issuers. So they get ignored.
