WHAT DOES DURATIVE MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Delimitative aspect

The delimitative aspect is a grammatical construct that indicates that a situation lasts only a certain amount of time. It is sometimes called durative aspect. Russian: "я стоял и курил" - "I stood and smoked" compared with "я постоял и покурил" = "I stood and smoked for a while" (the prefix по- (po-) marking the delimitative aspect in this example).
