WHAT DOES HEZBOLLAH MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Hezbollah

Hezbollah —also transliterated Hizbullah, Hizballah, etc.[11]—is a Shi'a Islamic militant group and political party based in Lebanon.[12][13][14] Hezbollah's paramilitary wing is the Jihad Council;[15][16] once seen as a resistance movement throughout much of the Arab world,[12] this image upon which the group's legitimacy rested has been severely damaged, due to the sectarian nature of the Syrian Civil War in which it has become involved since 2012.[17][18] The group's paramilitary is considered more powerful than the Lebanese Army.[19][20] Hezbollah, which started with only a small militia, has grown to an organization with seats in the Lebanese government, a radio and a satellite television-station, programs for social development and large-scale military deployment of fighters beyond Lebanon's borders.[18][21][22] The organization has been called a state within a state.[23] Hezbollah maintains strong support among Lebanon's Shi'a population.[24] After the death of Abbas al-Musawi in 1992, the organisation has been headed by Hassan Nasrallah, its Secretary-General.

10 QUOTES WITH «HEZBOLLAH»

Famous quotes and sentences with the word Hezbollah.
1
John Boehner
The aggressive, unprovoked acts of violence against Israel by Hezbollah and Hamas are revealing. It is clear they don't want peace, but rather seek the ultimate destruction of Israel.
2
John Conyers
None of us condone terrorism in any way, shape, or form, and I believe Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that was, is, and remains a threat to peace in the Mideast, and must be dismantled and disarmed.
3
Ziad Doueiri
I lived through many battles - the 1973, I was young; in 1982 with the Israeli invasions, and 2006 between Hezbollah and Israel. Before I emigrated to the States in '83, I had my own very black and white views of the Israelis and the Jews in general. But you start to understand that no matter what you think, there are two perspectives.
4
Lawrence Eagleburger
There's Hezbollah, there's Hamas, there is a whole range of terrorist targets out there related to Palestine and to Israel that we ought to be trying to deal with. And there's a great deal of targets in the Philippines, Indonesia. You name it, there are a number of places where there are targets that we ought to be trying to deal with.
5
Lawrence Eagleburger
There are a lot of other terrorist targets we ought to be focusing on. Well, there is Syria, for example, which is pumping through - because of Iran, is pumping weapons on into Hezbollah and so forth - which is then producing a lot of agony in Palestine and in Israel. We ought to be doing a bit to try to stop that.
6
Norman Finkelstein
Every victory of Hezbollah, I celebrate.
7
Alcee Hastings
The actions of the terrorist organizations, Hezbollah, in Lebanon, and Hamas, in Gaza, against Israel are unconscionable. Instead of working towards peace, these terrorist organizations have chosen to perpetuate the violence.
8
J. D. Hayworth
As in any war, there have been dreadful mistakes and civilian casualties. The difference is when Israelis kill innocents they apologize; when Hezbollah kills innocents they celebrate.
9
Mark Helprin
If one accepts Hezbollah's self-description as a resistance movement, in which case one must, in light of the fact that Hezbollah never ceases to provoke, view Israel's mere existence as a continuing act of aggression, then Hezbollah has indeed shown that it can initiate conflict, resist, and survive.
10
Tom Lantos
Our resolution urges all Latin American and Caribbean countries to designate al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad as terrorist organizations.
