Najd

Najd or Nejd is the central region of Saudi Arabia. Najd is considered the birthplace of Wahhabism. Najd is known for its puritanical interpretation of Islam. Most Saudis in Najd are Wahhabis. 28% of Saudis live in Najd. Najd consists of the regions of Riyadh, Al-Qassim and Ha'il. Unlike Hejaz, Najd is very remote and stayed outside of the reign of important foreign empires.
