Pope Pius VI

Pope Pius VI, born Count Giovanni Angelo Braschi, reigned from 15 February 1775 to his death in 1799. As pope, he condemned the French Revolution and he was expelled from the Papal States by French troops from 1798 until his death one year later in Valence. His reign is the fourth-longest in papal history.
