Sforza was a ruling family of Renaissance Italy, based in Milan. They acquired the dukedom and Duchy of Milan from the previously ruling Visconti family in the mid-15th century, and lost it to the Spanish Habsburgs about a century later.

Definition of Sforza in the English dictionary

The first definition of Sforza in the dictionary is Count Carlo. 1873–1952, Italian statesman; leader of the anti-Fascist opposition. Other definition of Sforza is Francesco. 1401–66, duke of Milan. Sforza is also his father Giacomuzzo or Muzio, original name Attendolo. 1369–1424, Italian condottiere and founder of the dynasty that ruled Milan.
