WHAT DOES STATIONARY POINT MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Stationary point

In mathematics, particularly in calculus, a stationary point or critical point is a point of the domain of a differentiable function, where the derivative is zero: it is a point where the function "stops" increasing or decreasing. For a differentiable function of several variables, a stationary or critical point is an input where all the partial derivatives are zero. The stationary points are easy to visualize on the graph of the function: they correspond to the points on the graph where the tangent is parallel to the x-axis. For function of two variables, they correspond to the points on the graph where the tangent plane is parallel to the xy plane.

Definition of stationary point in the English dictionary

The definition of stationary point in the dictionary is a point on a curve at which the tangent is either horizontal or vertical, such as a maximum, a minimum, or a point of inflection. Other definition of stationary point is a point in the apparent path of a planet when it reverses direction.
