WHAT DOES THE OTHER MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Other

The Other or constitutive Other is a key concept in continental philosophy and the social sciences; it opposes the Same. The Other and "Otherness" refers to that which is alien and divergent from that which is given, such as a norm, identity, or the self. The Constitutive Other often denotes a different, incomprehensible self outside of one's own; thus the spelling is often capitalized, because the Other is a mystification fetishized by a hegemonic subject.
