Topaz
Topaz is a silicate mineral of aluminium and fluorine with the chemical formula Al2SiO42. Topaz crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, and its crystals are mostly prismatic terminated by pyramidal and other faces.
Definition of topaz in the English dictionary
The first definition of topaz in the dictionary is a white or colourless mineral often tinted by impurities, found in cavities in igneous rocks and in quartz veins. It is used as a gemstone. Composition: hydrated aluminium silicate. Formula: Al2SiO42. Crystal structure: orthorhombic. Other definition of topaz is a yellowish-brown colour, as in some varieties of topaz. Topaz is also either of two South American hummingbirds, Topaza pyra and T. pella.
