William Wordsworth

William Wordsworth was a major English Romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped to launch the Romantic Age in English literature with the 1798 joint publication Lyrical Ballads. Wordsworth's magnum opus is generally considered to be The Prelude, a semiautobiographical poem of his early years which he revised and expanded a number of times. It was posthumously titled and published, prior to which it was generally known as "the poem to Coleridge". Wordsworth was Britain's Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death in 1850.

The definition of Wordsworth in the dictionary is Dorothy. 1771–1855, English writer, whose Journals are noted esp for their descriptions of nature. Other definition of Wordsworth is her brother, William. 1770–1850, English poet, whose work, celebrating nature, was greatly inspired by the Lake District, in which he spent most of his life. Lyrical Ballads, to which Coleridge contributed, is often taken as the first example of English romantic poetry and includes his Lines Written above Tintern Abbey. Among his other works are The Prelude and Poems in Two Volumes, which includes The Solitary Reaper and Intimations of Immortality.
