Microspora

Micróspora

Male sporophytes spores, also called ruby veins microsporocytes. Produced by meiosis from a diploid stem cell, which forms a tetrad of haploid microspores. After microgametogenesis, the microspore becomes the pollen grain, which is the male gametophyte. The pollen grain forms the pollen tube to fertilize the embryonic sac, the female gametophyte. Schematic of microspore formation The microspores are formed in the pollen sac found in the stamen of the angiosperms and in the staminate cones of gymnosperms.
