Smoking is a practice of burning a substance to inhale smoke through the mouth or nose. Several types of products can be absorbed in this way: ▪ tobacco: tobacco ▪ shisha ▪ hemp ▪ opium ▪ salvia ▪ heroin ▪ crack, a smokable derivative of cocaine ▪ methamphetamine, in the form of 'ice. This type of consumption is generally done by means of adapted pipes, and in the form of cigarettes or cigars, in particular in the case of tobacco and hemp. For example, heroin can be smoked with cigarettes rolled in aluminum foil under which a flame is passed to allow inhalation of vapors. These products are consumed for their stunning properties. This mode of consumption converts the active principles of the products into a form enabling them to be assimilated into the blood system through the lungs, towards the brain in which they act. Apart from these stunning products, some plants are sometimes consumed in the form of cigarettes, such as eucalyptus leaves.
