Yodel
The yodel, from the verb yodler or jodel in German, is a technique of singing consisting of passing quickly from the voice of body to the voice of the head. The technique was probably developed in the Swiss Alps as a method of communication in the mountains, before being integrated into folklore. It is related to the "Tyrolean", and is found both in Germany and in Austria. Every three years, the Federal Yodelling Association organizes the Federal Yodelling Festival in various parts of Switzerland where each yodeller can participate provided he has qualified at regional festivals. Their performances are published in publios and quartets, and an accompanying note is given. There are no winners, but honorary classes. Alpine players and flags also have their support during this festival. Yodleurs du Nouveau Glarus in traditional Swiss dress.
