death
Death is a concept that describes the state of a biological organism that has ceased to exist. This state is characterized by a definite rupture in the coherence of the vital processes necessary for the homeostatic maintenance of the organism in question, which distinguishes death from temporary alteration as in the case of hibernation or some freezing. At the cellular level, death is the cessation of the basic functions of a cell. In multicellular communities, this death can be accidental or regulated, even programmed. However, there are sometimes disturbances that call into question this regulated death: the cell is then called immortal because it can divide into daughter cells an unlimited number of times. Unicellular organisms that reproduce only by scissiparity are in principle immortal, although after labeling it appears that these cells also age, which alters their homeostatic and reproductive capacities.
