preaching
In a religious context, a sermon is a sermon, a homily or a speech usually made before an assembly of people for the good, the edification and the instruction of the faithful. Most often, this task of transmitting a divine message is entrusted to pastors, priests but also to lay people known and respected by believers. In Catholic churches, the liturgy admits that the theme of the sermon is developed from the Gospel and the readings of the day, free to the preacher to be inspired or not; in the Protestant tradition, the free choice of the theme of the sermon is entirely left to the person charged with preaching.
