The Ataturk Mausoleum (Ataturk bowl) is the mausoleum of the first President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey. In Turkey it is called Anıtkabir (Anıtkabir). Located on a hill in the southeast of Ankara city, before the mausoleum was built it was called Rasatape and there was a Phrygian tumulus around the 8th century BC. This burial mound was torn down after being excavated when the temple was built. At the same time as the death of Kemal in 1938, construction of a huge mausoleum began on this hill. Kemal's coffin was settled in a hill (a current folklore museum) standing on a hill overlooking the city of Ankara until this temple was completed.
