Association of Southeast Asian Nations
The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a regional cooperation organization on economic, social, political, security and culture in ten Southeast Asian countries. Head office is located in Jakarta, Indonesia. Since 2009, 50 countries including the United States and China have appointed Ambassador of ASEAN and are stationed in Jakarta where ASEAN headquarters are located. Japan also opened the delegation of the Government of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta on May 26, 2011, and has made ambassadors of ASEAN resident. The total population in the region exceeds 620 million (2014), more than the European Union with a population of 500 million (2014). Total GDP of member countries in 2013 is US $ 2,410.4 billion, about half the size of Japan's GDP. When seeing ASEAN as one state, it will have the world's seventh place in the world. ...
