Definition of ぶんかざい‐ぶ in the Japanese dictionary
Department of Cultural Affairs Division of Agency for Cultural Affairs that protects, utilizes, investigates and conducts research on cultural properties. In 1950, the Cultural Heritage Protection Committee was established as an external bureau of the Ministry of Education, and it was reorganized as the Cultural Heritage Protection Division when the Cultural Affairs Bureau was established in 1968 (1968). Heisei 13 (2001), renamed to current name. ぶんかざい‐ぶ【文化財部】 文化財の保護・活用・調査・研究を行う文化庁の部門。昭和25年(1950)に文部省の外局として文化財保護委員会が設置され、昭和43年(1968)文化庁設置の際に改組されて文化財保護部と改称。さらに平成13年(2001)、現在の名称に改称。
