Veliko Tarnovo 【Veliko Tarnovo / Велико Търново】 City in the northern part of Bulgaria. Formerly known as Tarn Novo. In 1965 it became the present name bearing "Bellico" meaning "large". Located in the curved part of the Yantra River. From the end of the 12th century to the end of the 14th century, it flourished as the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. Many historic buildings including the building of the national restoration style remain. It is also a fabric of Bulgaria independent writer / poet Petko-Slavekov. ベリコ‐タルノボ【Veliko Tarnovo/Велико Търново】 ブルガリア中北部の都市。旧称タルノボ。1965年に「大」を意味する「ベリコ」を冠した現名称になった。ヤントラ川の曲流部に位置する。12世紀末から14世紀末にかけて、第二次ブルガリア帝国の首都として栄えた。民族復興様式の建物をはじめとする歴史的建造物が数多く残っている。ブルガリア独立期の作家・詩人ペトコ=スラベイコフの生地でもある。
