Shinko Hijikata 【Hijikata Kozo】 [1835 - 1869] Deputy chief of Shinsengumi at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate. Musashi's people. Actively helped the captain Isamu Kondo. After being defeated by the battle of Toba Fushimi, he resisted the army by easting down, and killed in the Hakodate Goryokaku \u0026 thinsp; (goryoku) \u0026 thinsp; ひじかた‐としぞう【土方歳三】 [1835~1869]幕末の新撰組の副長。武蔵の人。隊長近藤勇を助けて活躍。鳥羽伏見の戦いに敗れたのちも東下して官軍に抵抗し、箱館五稜郭 (ごりょうかく) で戦死。
