Bit Rioza [Vittoriosa] A town in the southeastern part of Valletta, the capital of the Republic of Malta, an island country in the central part of the Mediterranean. Located in the northeastern part of Malta Island, on the other side of Valletta across the grand harbor. It was built by the Malta Knights as the first fortified city of the island. Originally called Birug, it was renamed to the current name in commemoration of the victory in the Great Siege Battle by the Ottoman Army of 1565, but the old name is also often used. There is Fort St. Angelo and St. Laurence church which the Order formed. ビットリオーザ【Vittoriosa】 地中海中央部の島国、マルタ共和国の首都バレッタの南東部にある町。マルタ島北東部に位置し、グランド港を挟んでバレッタの対岸に位置する。マルタ騎士団により同島初の城塞都市として建設された。もともとはビルグという名で、1565年のオスマン帝国軍による大包囲戦での勝利を記念して現名称に改められたが、古称が使われることも多い。騎士団が築いた聖アンジェロ砦や聖ローレンス教会がある。
