Voronezh
Voronezh (Voronezh, Voronezhi etc as well; Russian: Воронеж Valognes) is the capital city of Voronezh state located in the southwestern part of Russia and is the river port of the Voronezh river (Don River tributary). The city spreads to the east of the Central Russian Highlands, on both sides of the Voronezh river, and the Voronezh river joins the Don River 12 kilometers downstream. It is a subsidiary of the Russian Railway and has a headquarters of Southeast Railway connecting Europe and Russia with Ural, Siberia, Caucasus and Ukraine. It is also an important relay point of the M4 arterial road (Don Highway) connecting Moscow and Rostov-Na-Donu. Population of 848,752 people (2002 Russian census, 886,844 people in the 1989 Soviet census, about 660,000 in 1970, about 447,000 in 1959, about 344,000 in 1939, about 120,000 in 1926) It is a big city within 20th place in Russia.
