Kaunas
Kaunas (Lithuanian · English, etc.: Kaunas, Latvian: Kauņa, Polish: Kowno, Russian: Каунас) is the second city of Lithuania, the capital of Lithuania before the annexation of the Soviet Union (extraordinary). The population is about 355,550 people (2008). Located in the center of Lithuania, the city center is at the confluence of the Nemnas River and the Nyalis River, famous for its historic townscape.
