Cape Coast Cape Coast Castle "Cape Coast Castle" A castle in the port city of Cape Coast in the south of Ghana. Sweden was built as a trading base in the mid 17th century. Later, the Cape Coast was dominated by Denmark and the UK, and the Citadel was used as the administrative capital of the British Cape Coast in the mid-nineteenth century. In 1979, it was registered as a World Heritage (cultural heritage) as one of "Citadel of Volta, Greater Accra, Central Province, Western Province (a group of fortress along the Benin Bay in Ghana)". ケープコースト‐じょう【ケープコースト城】 《Cape Coast Castle》ガーナ南部の港湾都市ケープコーストにある城塞。17世紀半ばにスウェーデンが交易拠点として建造。その後、ケープコーストはデンマーク、英国に支配され、同城塞は19世紀半ばに英国領ケープコーストの行政府として利用された。1979年、「ボルタ州、グレーターアクラ州、セントラル州、ウェスタン州の城塞群(ガーナのベナン湾沿いの城塞群)」の一つとして世界遺産(文化遺産)に登録された。
