Four peripheral towns and villages in 2005 (2005), Shinshin-machi, Nakajo village in 2010 (2010). Population 382,000 (2010). ながの【長野】 中部地方中央部の県。信濃 (しなの) 国にあたる。明治期から養蚕県・教育県として有名。人口215.3万(2010)。
長野県北部の市。県庁所在地。善光寺の門前町、北国 (ほっこく) 街道の宿場町として発展した。リンゴ栽培、電機・食品工業などが盛ん。平成17年(2005)に周辺4町村を、平成22年(2010)に信州新町・中条村を編入。人口38.2万(2010)。
