Sabratha urban ruins on the Mediterranean coast, northwest of Libya. It was built by the Phoenicians around the 9th century BC and flourished as a trade center between the Mediterranean and the inland parts of Africa. There are many remnants such as the Roman province and an amphitheater built with temples, plazas, baths and marble. It was registered as a World Heritage (cultural heritage) under the name of "Ancient ruins of Sabrata" in 1982.
