Zakynthos Town 【Zakynthos Island】 "Zakinthos / Ζάκυνθος" Western Greece, an island in the Ionian Sea. It belongs to the Ionian islands. English name Zante island. The center is Zakynthos on the east coast. It is connected with the port town of Kirini of Peloponnese. It flourished under the control of the Republic of Venice and was called "the flower of the east". Beginning in 1953, it has been suffering from the massive earthquake often in the past. Many pilgrims visit Agios Dionysius Church, where patron saints of the same island are settled in August every year. Also, the Agios Georgios Bay (also known as Nabao), surrounded by limestone cliffs and a waste ship lying on the white sand beach, is known as one of the island's most beautiful scenic spots. Poet Dionysios - Solomos, fabric of Hugo - Foscolo. ザキントス‐とう【ザキントス島】 《Zakinthos/Ζάκυνθος》ギリシャ西部、イオニア海にある島。イオニア諸島に属す。英語名ザンテ島。中心地は東岸のザキントス。ペロポネソス半島の港町キリニとフェリーで結ばれる。ベネチア共和国の支配下で繁栄し、「東方の花」と称された。1953年をはじめ、過去にたびたび大地震による被害を受けている。同島の守護聖人ディオニシオスの聖遺物が安置されるアギオスディオニシオス教会には、毎年8月に数多くの巡礼者が訪れる。また、石灰岩の断崖に囲まれ、白砂の浜辺に廃船が横たわるアギオスゲオルギオス湾(通称ナバイオ)は同島屈指の景勝地として知られる。詩人ディオニシオス=ソロモス、ウーゴ=フォスコロの生地。
