Skopje (Macedonian: Скопје / Skopje) is the capital city of the Republic of Macedonia, the largest city and one-third of the total population of the Republic of Macedonia lives in Skopje. It is the central city of politics, culture, economy and academy of the country. In the ancient Roman period it was known by the name of Soupi.
