Suzuki Umetsuro 【Suetaki Umedaro】 [1874 ~ 1943] Agricultural chemist. Born in Shizuoka. Professor of Tokyo University. Meiji 42 (1909) Successfully extracted ingredients (vitamin B1) effective for beriberi \u0026 thinsp; (kake) \u0026 thinsp; from rice bran, named orizanin. It announced the following year and pioneered the discovery of vitamins. Receiving the Order of Culture. "Vitamin" "Hormone" etc. すずき‐うめたろう【鈴木梅太郎】 [1874~1943]農芸化学者。静岡の生まれ。東大教授。明治42年(1909)米ぬかから脚気 (かっけ) に効く成分(ビタミンB1)の抽出に成功、オリザニンと命名。翌年発表し、ビタミン発見の先駆をなした。文化勲章受章。著「ビタミン」「ホルモン」など。
