Top mask 【iron mask】 French of the 17th century. Real name, birth and death not known. It was infested by a prison such as Sainte-Marguerite Island and Bastille, died in 1703. Always wearing a mask made of cloth and because it was unknown identity, a legend of iron mask was made later in the year, and it became a motif of various literary works. Adapted novel of Kuroiwa. Serialized in "The Morning News" from 1892 (1892) to 1893 (1893). The original is French writer Boarobay's "Two Thrush of San Mull". てっかめん【鉄仮面】 17世紀のフランス人。本名・生没年未詳。サントマルグリット島やバスチーユなどの牢獄に幽閉され、1703年に死亡。常に布製の仮面を着けており正体不明だったことから、後年、鉄仮面の伝説が作られ、さまざまな文学作品のモチーフとなった。
黒岩涙香の翻案小説。明治25年(1892)から明治26年(1893)にかけて「万朝報」に連載。原作はフランスの作家ボアゴベイの「サンマール氏の二羽のツグミ」。
